Saturday 4 October · Harbor Point Park

Run the harbour. Fill a table.

A flat, fast 5K along the water — and every entry puts a week of meals on a neighbour’s table. Walk it, run it, or push a stroller the whole way.

Why we run

One in seven families in this city skips meals by the end of the month. The Harbor Food Bank feeds them — and does it on a shoestring, out of a warehouse two streets from the finish line.

Every entry to this race is a week of groceries for one family. Not a slice of a marketing budget, not an administrative fee. A week of dinners, bought locally, handed over by people your neighbours already know.

Four ways to take part

Everyone finishes on the same pier.

5K timed

Chip-timed and certified flat. Course record is 14:52 — it has stood for three years.

5K fun run

Same route, no clock. Costumes strongly encouraged and frequently excellent.

1 mile family walk

Out to the lighthouse and back. Strollers, wheelchairs and slow dogs all welcome.

Virtual

Run it wherever you are that weekend and send us a photo. Shirt and medal posted to you.

From the start line

Before you sign up

What does it cost? +
Thirty dollars for the 5K, fifteen for the family walk, and free for under-12s. All of it goes to the food bank — the race itself is covered by our sponsors.
Is the course really flat? +
Genuinely. It runs along the harbour wall and back, with one gentle rise onto the pier at the end. No steps, no trail, no surprises.
Can I walk the 5K? +
Yes, and hundreds do. The course stays open for two hours and the water station stays until the last person is through.
Can I bring my dog? +
On the family walk, yes, on a short lead. Not on the timed 5K, for everyone’s ankles.
What if it rains? +
We run. It is only cancelled for lightning or a harbour closure, and if that happens your entry rolls to the virtual race automatically.
Where does the money actually go? +
To the Harbor Food Bank, who publish what every race has raised and what it bought. Last year: $96,412, which is 18,200 meals.

Four weeks to race day

Registration closes when we hit 1,600 runners, and it has sold out three years running.
